SMALL GROUPS

Small Groups are one of the primary vehicles through which Harvest Bible Chapel gathers to help each other walk with Christ. It is our purpose to see transformed lives Worship Christ, Walk with Christ, and Work for Christ as quality disciples.

Small groups meet at various times and locations; some at the church and some at homes or places in the surrounding communities. They meet 3-4 times each month. Group meetings are normally 2 hours in length.

Our groups develop the following habits:

  • CARE
Doing what is best for the other person
  • HELP
    Providing resources others may need
  • AUTHENTICITY
Sharing and participating openly and transparently
  • SAFETY
Practicing...what is said in the group, stays in the group
  • GROWTH
Being doers of the Word of God, not simply hearers

What do small groups actually do?
Weekly meetings involve food, conversation, prayer, and discussion for applying the Bible to practical living. Small Groups are an environment for building relationships with one another, which strongly emphasizes challenging one another to drive Goid's Word deeply into our lives. Groups follow the Sunday sermon series, work through a book of the Bible, or use another curriculum that leads them to apply God's Word to everyday life. Small Groups are much more than a Bible study, however, they are community, a place where we can laugh, cry, work, and play together for the glory of Jesus. Thgis means you could expect BBQ's, yard work for an elderly neighbor, bowling, working in children's ministry, visiting people in the hospital, birthday parties, etc.

Sermon Based Groups

At Harvest we have always honored Scripture as the means by which God has chosen to reveal Himself and His Truth to us. In keeping with that conviction, our small groups focus on building life changing relationships around the teachings of Scripture. Our expectation is that the small groups not merely discuss the content of the sermon, but go even further and discuss the actural sections of Scripture upon which the sermon was based. In this way, the collective insights from the personal study of each group member more fully enriches everyone's understanding of what God is saying through His Word. Each week curriculum  is provided for Small Group Leaders to facilitate discussion.
